Epinions Great GPS Unit

by  szerfas,  Oct 5, 2004
Pros: Speed, power and functionality.
Cons: Cost, manual.
The Bottom Line: A great little GPS unit that serves well in the car or on foot. A good value over the competition.
Review: This is a great little GPS (Global Positioning System) unit and we still continue to be impressed with how much it does. We have owned the unit for about 4 months and still cannot be happier with the purchase. Our main motivation for getting a GPS unit ...

Epinions Great GPS unit

by  dynamicfigure,  Jun 18, 2005
Pros: Durable and weather resistant, great/bright display, accurate topo maps, easy to use and understand.
Cons: Not compatable with Mac's (bummer), some the topo maps roads are also quite dated
The Bottom Line: Great product that has proven much more valuable than I originally thought
Review: After having this unit for about a year and using it for everything including hiking, hunting, skiing, and driving I cannot say enough good things about it. Though I have never submerged it for prolonged periods of time, I have slipped and fell into a ...

Epinions A Little Older, but Mature Product

by  fogdrip,  Oct 13, 2007
Pros: Handheld, compact, rugged, fantastic battery life - IT Works!
Cons: Needs additional Mapsource software, older technology for signal acquisition. Screen harder to see in shade.
The Bottom Line: Older model, but still great - Check that it is priced accordingly. Older chipset harder to get fix in trees or urban setting with tall buildings. Great outdoor general-use Unit.
Review: I bought the Garmin GPSMAP 60C about 3 years ago and can’t imagine traveling without it now. Its features include: Sunlight-readable display with 256-color transreflective TFT display (1.5" W x 2.2" H; 2.6" diagonally); color operating system ...

Epinions GarminMap60CS V's Magellan Meridian Colour/ Platinum

by  warren_organ,  Sep 26, 2005
Pros: Everything!
Cons: non-upgradeable memory. However it's more than enough
The Bottom Line: I'd not be without this bit of a kit when the weather turns for the worse!
Review: After carrying out a fair bit of research and reading loads of users reviews, my choice was between the Garmin MAP60cs and either the Magellan Meridian Colour or the Magellan Meridian Platinum. (Both the 60CS and Platinum have a barometric altimiter, ...

Epinions Garmin GPS MAP 60CS - EXCELLENT

by  geocachemaster,  Jul 16, 2005
Pros: Size, Screen clarity, Response time, accuracy. My son loves the games.
Cons: Price. PC Software looks like something from 1980's. Software is VERY expensive.
Review: Being the first GPS unit I have owned and starting my geocaching hobby, this has been a treat with the accuracy and features of this model. Our first run at it we did in the dark and WHAM right on target. What a rush. ...

Epinions Garmin GPSMAP 60CS

by  KimK,  Mar 4, 2005
Pros: Geocaching, color screen, accessories
Cons: Price
Review: I really like this GPSr. It's very easy to use. And since I'm into geocaching, I really like the geocaching ability. When you are looking to a cache, it tells you how far away and which heading. Then, when you find it and select the "Found it" button, it ...

Epinions Pricey GPS, but worth every penny

by  lonewolfpc,  Jan 4, 2007
Pros: Solid, rugged GPS unit that is ready for the trail
Cons: Pricey, fixed memory.
Review: I previously owned (and reviewed) the Garmin ETrex Legend, which I found to be too fragile for trail use. The 60cs series is a huge improvement over the ETrex line! Here's the improvements that I found most useful: * Color display - a must for topo ...

Epinions All Encompassing Unit!

by  scotch10,  Mar 9, 2005
Pros: Pros: Good color, has capability all functions that the GPS units offer today.
Cons: Cons: not Mac Friendly. "See Spot Run" manual. More cords!
Review: My search for a GPS was rather extensive. Reason being, I am of the mind that you find the best you can, so you don't spend alot of time wishing you had better. This GPS is outstanding. The color screen is awesome, the user interface is less ...

Epinions Good GPS unit

by  m0m0,  Nov 15, 2005
Pros: Lay-out, Reception, Quality, Track Memory, Battery life
Cons: Memory, Garmin's Chart policy, No thermometer
Review: This is my third Garmin GPS. Basically I'm happy with the unit. It does what is should do. I could use a bigger memory (or a SD card like the Magellan Explorist) but Garmin has other machines for that purpose. Lay-out and Interface are good. I use it on ...

Epinions Love it!!

by  brentp,  Jul 24, 2006
Pros: Handheld, good for multiple uses (hiking, car, etc.). Good compromise unit for those needs.
Cons: Not too much bad to say about this.
Review: My first GPS system. Bought to use while snowmobiling in the back woods. Use it for that, as well as in the car for navigation with the auto nav SW. While in the car, . . . upcoming directions are clearly understood. You don't really need a voice to ...
