NO BASS! Beware.
Date of Review: Oct 21, 2006
The Bottom Line: Get true noise canceling headphones.
I have owned at least 10 different MP3 players, have bought the Sony earbuds(not good), and a slew of others off the rack at Best Buy. I use my MP3 player when I workout, I listen to loud, bass heavy music. My biggest problem at the gym, is they blast their music so loud, I end up competing with it. I turn my MP3 player all the way up, which hurts my ears, and distorts the sound. Having finally found an MP3 player that gives good bass and volume(IRiver), I set out to find speakers that will enrich the sound quality and cancel out other sounds. Having read the reviews, and going off everyone else's advice the SHURE's were the way to go.
I'm going to be blunt; I think they're garbage. First, the volume is much lower than the stock headphones, as well as a variety of others I have kept from past Mp3 players. I would rank sound "quality" at above average compared to the rest, sound volume and bass dead last. They just don't compare. At all. Second, they are uncomfortable as hell. Big, weird, they will fall out of your ears and you keep repositioning them to get the best sound, grinding your inner ear. I don't like them at all.
The only advantage they offer over my stock headphones is they will cancel out some noise. But the music sounds weak, so who cares?
Waste of $$$
****update**** I tried to return these to BestBuy with no luck(ear buds can't be returned, corporate policy), so I gave them to my brother who is a musician. He gave them back immediately, stating they are defective. He records his own music, is NOT a basshead like me, and said the SHURE earphones have no low end frequency whatsoever.
COMPLETE CRAP!!!
