Tom Clancy at his best
Date of Review: Jan 22, 2001
The Bottom Line: The overall realism and tactical game plasy make this one of the best first-person shooters ever created
Mr. Clancy and the Red Storm team are at it again. This gme is nothing but an improvement on the original Rainbow Six series. Like the original this game pays close attention to detail in both weapon, character, and map design.
Like Rainbow six this game is revolutionary because it allows the player to plan and execute plans with several operatives on various teams. The game allows the player to switch to various teams or to control them through the use of an ingame planning map and "go-codes".
The weapons in Rogue Spear are very well rendered and extremely accurate as far a realism is concerned. Along with the addtion of a long list of guns, including sniper-rifles, the hk36k, mp10, and others, their are new uniforms and new characters. These new characters are divided into catagories accourding to skill which makes it much easier to plan missions.
The 18 mission campaign is long enough to keep gamers playing for a long time. Also, training courses and firing ranges help gamers learn the traits of various weapons and the ability of operatives to perform certain functions.
Multi player has also improved. There are more levels and game play is smoother.
This game is still about $44.00. Only six dollars less than when I bought it a year ago. The ability of this fine game to hold its original retail price is atestement to its quality.
