Trying out a multiplayer-shooter? Think twice about Rogue Spear no matter what you're thinkin'!

The Bottom Line: Great game for multiplayer and single player, will keep you entertained for months ONCE YOU GET USED TO SOME SMALL AND SOME MAJOR GLITCHES.
Rogue Spear to some is a great game. It features real weapons with real SWAT like tactics when going solo (single player missions). However, some major glitches and disadvantages lie in very small mistakes of Redstorm and the developement team. For example, the AI is very bad and stupid. They run toward frag grenades and can shoot VERY, VERY WELL. They can somehow get an aim on you within a second. Once they see you, you're basically screwed if you haven't gotten an aim on them. However, this is another skill, pinpointing without looking. Other glitches include the head-peek while reloading (changing magazine). When you peek to the side with your head while reloading, it does it again for some odd reason. As you can see, these are mostly small mistakes/glitches and you CAN get used to them after time. Some mods from 3rd party/independent developers make up for many of the disadvantages. Such as a ammo mod giving you 100 rounds per clip instead of 30. Or, improved AI in T88/Gekkes maps. These AI are very smart.
The environment deserves high recognition. From a museum in NY to Russian castles. Not only do you face different enemies but different tango weapons such as Shotguns just barrelled in your face or semi-automatic Uzis Vs. your SD HK weapon. Sometimes the tangos just need a lesson in getting their booty blown to pieces. C4, Frag grenades, flashbangs, smoke grenades and more are at your disposal. "Ah! Grenade! Run!" You'll hear that a lot. A fun part of the game is the shotgun. There are two, the Spas-12 and the Beneli M1 Tactical. They pack some major power and can blast open doors like in real life.
The sounds and gfx are both good but every gun makes different sounds and grenades also make a loud BOOM best heard with a subwoofer.
There's just too many things to explain in this game. It's a major must have game if you're interested in SWAT, Stealth missions and/or online shooter. The online multiplayer is fun but lag is a problem if you don't have broadband such as DSL/Cable. However, it is fun. There's Co-Op with other people and Adversarial which opens a new level of tactics from camping to rushing. This game will keep you entertained for months to come but if you're seeking a SOLID online shooter in the style of Quake or Half Life, Half Life: Counterstrike is what you should try.
No matter what you decide, good luck!
