The Husband and I bought the TomTom ONE 3rd Edition for our anniversary last year. We were going on a trip to Los Angeles and decided we might need the extra navigation, we weren't disappointed!
Got the TomTom home, installing the software was very easy and updating the actual device is even easier. There are lots of great features, like the points of interest map, which shows you restaurants, shopping malls, etc. right where you are! Plus, there are plenty of fun and free voices you can install on the TomTom to guide you. ONE has a great display for night and day time lighting, the battery lasts a long time on a single charge from the PC or easily plugs into your cars outlets for quick charge while using. Another one of my favorite features is the ability to save multiply addresses into the device and mark them as favorites. Places that we wanted to visit more then once on the trip were easy to get back to and I didn't have to save a million printed copies! Also the TomTom ONE 3rd Edition is relatively cheap compared to other GPS navigation devices, and you aren't getting a cheap item. We purchased ours at Wal-mart, even got it on sale!
The only drawback I can think of is that you have to update the device on the computer often or it takes forever to load your maps and locate where you are. This didn't really affect us on the trip; it stayed pretty current through out that week.
In the end, we did plenty of sight seeing and got around L.A.(even all the freeways) just fine!
