Epinions TomTom is Goodgood and at this time a good buy(12/07)

by  tom49,  Jan 2, 2008
Pros: Name brand, price, excellent performer, screen easy to see
Cons: Does not have text to speech but have found this not a big deal
The Bottom Line: The TomTom One XL does a good job getting you from A to B. For a great price you get a name brand device.
Review: My wife got me this GPS for Christmas from QVC. It came with extras like a carrying case and AC adapter - a QVC today's special value. We have previously tried one of the Cobra gps systems that QVC offered (we returned it for several reasons) and we ...

by  Ed.Williamson,  Jun 6, 2008
Pros: Inexpensive and miraculous.
Cons: The *&%%##@@** !!! packaging.
The Bottom Line: If you've been waiting to buy a GPS unit for your car, here it is.
Review: The Tom Tom One is my first GPS receiver. I have been admiring these things for years, wanting one for the car,and yet saw that they were about $500 a copy, and said I might get one when the price dropped. Well, I found one at Targette for far ...

Epinions XLS-ellent or Just Good?

by  el_guapo,  Mar 24, 2008
Pros: Easy to use, Latest Map Guarantee, 4.3 inch screen, Highly customizable
Cons: Weak windshield mount, Two hour battery life, Tele Atlas Maps, confusing services
The Bottom Line: This may be the GPS for you if price and features are more important to you than Navteq maps.
Review: MAKING THE PURCHASING In my world, the best laid plans often change without warning. Can the TOMTOM ONE XLS keep up with these changes and my spatially challenged family? The TOMTOM One XLS is exactly the same as the XL, except it adds ...

Epinions No more U-turns

by  presbychic,  Mar 13, 2008
Pros: lovely color screen, advanced verbal direction, slim and easy to store
Cons: short battery life
The Bottom Line: Fun and helpful for the directionally dysfunctional or those blazing new trails. Easy to use and gets you from A to B.
Review: This Tomtom was a gift from a friend knowing I love to road trip, but inevitably see more of the countryside than planned due to being lost regularly! Having recently moved I was forced into trusting my new "gizmo" and have to say have learned a TON ...

Epinions Google maps on the Go !

by  one_listen,  Feb 21, 2008
Pros: Large Screen, easy to use, low price
Cons: Reliability could be an issue
The Bottom Line: The Tom Tom One XL is a great product at a very competitive price.
Review: I chose the Tom Tom One XL for several reasons, but the number one reason was price. At around $250 it had many features of the more expensive units. The most important reason for buying a GPS is for directions and The Tom Tom functions superbly. ...

Epinions Still waiting for TomTom to LearnLearn

by  skadee,  Jan 1, 2008
Pros: Wide screen with lots of data, lightning-fast acquisition and recalculations, good maps.
Cons: Poor mount, Very POOR Points of Interest (POIs), no auto-brightening/darkening.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this unit over a comparable Garmin. TomTom must listen to its customers when it comes to POI's, or they've lost me as a future customer.
Review: I'll give TomTom a lot of credit; their product is very easy to use, more intuitive than most portable gps units, is lightning-fast on recalculations and satellite acquisition, and has a bright screen with plenty of data available at a glance. I just ...

Epinions Tom Tom One XL (Doesn't work with hands free calling)

by  jsmitchell,  Jan 5, 2008
Pros: Nice screen size, Good features, Touch screen, Slim, light weight
Cons: No hands free calling, Menu is harder than Garmin which I like.
Review: Great GPS (Does not work with hands free calling!!) I wish the manual was more clear and the website. Tom Tom seems to build a good product but as always it was too good to be true for the price. I thought that the XL, because it had bluetooth would ...
