Epinions Pirate Sandbox Madness!!

by  aku_djinn,  Jun 25, 2004
Pros: Creative, fun, humor (parrots!), great campaign, sandbox mode.
Cons: Micro-manage details, hard to find the right key people to build structures.
The Bottom Line: A fun sand-box type game where you can let your imagination get the better of you. Lots of good humor.
Review: Tropico 2 Pirate Cove is a Sim City 2-D perspective type game where you play in real-time and trying to achieve various objectives while keeping the pirates happy and the slaves in-line. Naturally, you play the Pirate Captain who rules the island. Your ...

Epinions Bored? Tropico 2 is cheap, entertaining investment.

by  why2klisa,  Nov 7, 2003
Pros: Great tropical music, fun pirate atmosphere, searching for plunder, price, tutorial
Cons: The game can be difficult to navigate for new players.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this game to anyone because of its catchy music, colorful graphics, and extensive options.
Review: Recently I found myself browsing the computer games at my local Best Buy store. "Tropico 2: Pirate Cove," with its brightly colored packaging and low price, immediately stood out. After reading the box, I decided to give it a shot. The premise of t ...

Epinions Shiver me timbers! MS Bob has invaded my game, argh!

by  paytonbyrd,  Sep 29, 2003
Pros: Great soundtrack, fun graphics, nice premise.
Cons: Absolutely, positively no tactical control, not enough things to do, repetitive.
The Bottom Line: Bargain bin it or leave it on the shelf. Not enough here to make it a hobby, but good for an occasional diversion
Review: Playing like a cross between Sim City and a real-time strategy game, Tropico 2: Pirate Cove is an interesting amalgam of planning, strategy, luck, and patience. Unfortunately, there's not a single tactical element to the game. You can't direct anyone ...

Epinions Ahoy Here Be Pirates!

by  lilithdorsey,  Apr 16, 2007
Pros: pirates, price, user friendly, animation
Cons: slow sometimes when loading graphics
The Bottom Line: This game is enjoyable for what it is, a decently priced sim game that allows you to be a pirate, if only for a few hours.
Review: Sim lovers come one, come all. Maybe it's because we all wanted to get our hands on some "booty" at one time or another but the allure of pirates is a timeless one. This game allows you to act like a pirate if only for a little while. No not one of those ...

Epinions A painful disappointment

by  MrBulldogg,  May 1, 2004
Pros: Good graphics and excellent soundtrack.
Cons: Lack of control causes all sorts of frustrating catch-22s.
The Bottom Line: I really wanted to like this but ... It stinks, all thanks to the hopeless lack of control. Avoid it.
Review: I loved the concept of the first Tropico and its expansion pack, but this had the promise of blowing almost anything else out of the water. Boy, was I in for a disappointment. Even though the game is focused on pirates, there is no pirating going on - ...
