Epinions It pays to read product reviews

by  modsquad1959,  Oct 13, 2005
Pros: Exceptional value, excellent quality.
Cons: Can't purchase the headset from Uniden as yet.
Review: The Uniden GMR 885-2CK is the first FRS/GMRS radio I have ever purchased. My decision was made easy by the various positive product reviews I had found on the web. Everything I read was true, the radio is a pleasure to operate and works better than I ...

Epinions Best I've tried...yet

by  beeger1,  Sep 5, 2004
Pros: Battery life, audio quality, comfort of use.
Cons: Size (a bit large), belt clip (doesn't inspire confidence, flimsy)
The Bottom Line: Lots of radios out there. If you don't mind one that's a little large you'll be happy with this one. Too early to give it an "excellent" rating.
Review: I've had various Audiovox, Cobra, and Motorola FRS/GMRS radios, all of the 1/2 watt variety and each having strengths and weaknesses. My wife and I use them quite often around our farm and at the mall, park, etc. When I decided to upgrade to a higher ...

by  linda_fl,  Oct 1, 2004
Pros: Power. NOAA alerts, roger beep, VOX w/headset.
Cons: VOX "only" with headset, sound is a bit boxy, no flat bottom to stand on.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for distance, so far this is the clear winner in my testing. rated above avg becuz all others have been less than avg.

Epinions Distance & Battery

by  quaddick,  Jun 26, 2005
Pros: Well made case. Nice backlight. Battery life 10 hours on NiMH.
Cons: Distance Performance No scan on Weather stations No skipping of channels while scanning.
Review: Distance test was very disappointing. I am returning the units, even after getting the batteries straightened out. On our back road, I reset the trip meter in a truck. Signal cut out at 0.9 mile. Even stepping out of the truck, and using Power Boost ...
