Great projector for a first time home theater
Date of Review: Oct 4, 2006
The Bottom Line: A great buy and warranty for a Home Theater projector. I would recommend this projector for design, warranty, bulb life, quietness, color, clarity, brightness, and best of all price.
This projector will bring wonderful competition to the home theater market. If the main concept is for watching movies than I believe that most people will be satisfied. Of course you can spend more, and get greater features and resolutions, but if you need to be budget conscious, and this is only one part of the home theater that you are putting together, than this will open the door for many who have aspirations for their own home theaters. Great color, brightness, and clarity are features of an LCD projector and
while some will notice a mild screen door effect that is associated with LCD, backing away from the screen will minimize this inconvenience. This is the lowest priced projector currently on the market that I am familiar with. It is also from a major LCD maker with the longest warranty in the business both for the projector (3 years and 1 year on the bulb.) Having greater overall brightness than DLP projectors with the same luminance this projector can be used in whisper mode and extend the lamp to 4000 hours. We actually preferred the whisper mode for overall brightness and believed this was designed to extend the bulb life, while maintaining proper illumination. Anyone who has a home theater will love the quiet sound of this projector in whisper mode, as it will not be a menace to your surround sound system. This projector is also very light weight for a LCD and makes it very portable. I have to say that it appears, to be a well thought out design and a great buy and warranty for the entry level Home Theater projector. I would recommend this projector for design, warranty, bulb life, quietness, color, clarity, brightness, and best of all price.
