So good and yet so bad

by  mkbindustries,   Apr 29, 2008

Pros:  10 more levels

Lots of new items

New areas to explore

Cons:  Lots of farming to get items

Monthly fee

Slow customer support

The Bottom Line:  I would recommend this expansion for anyone who likes to farm for items or explore. I would not recommend this if you are like me and always wish to advance.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Recently I was begged by a old friend to come back to WoW (World of Warcraft). Finally I did and tried the expansion. The online download was fast and easy.

Jumping right into the game was easy. A few friends gave me a short tour of the new areas. After that I starting to grind out some levels. The xp comes fast in the expansion. So many good and easy quest which give crazy xp.

With the new expansion you can get socketed armor and weapons. What does this mean you ask? Well you can put gems into the sockets to add stats. Some sockets need a specific color gem, while other can take a few types of ones. This means you can customize your items to better your play style.

With 2 new races to pick from one for the Horde and one for the Alliance you might even want to make a new toon. Granted if you pick to do so the old zones are still around but you will start in a new city.

A new PvP battlefield will be open to anyone with the expansion who reaches 61. This battle field has 4 stations to hold on to, as well as a flag to capture and turn in for more points. This makes strategy a must to win.

For easy cash you can farm Mote of Life, Mote of Water and even Mote of Earth for easy cash. I made well over 1k gold in a week from farming. Also each day you can do special quest for easy cash.

The problem I see with this expansion is the same problems I had with the original WoW. You reach the highest level and can only do a few things either pvp all the time or spend lots of time farming gear.

After you have all of your gear and get sick of PvP you are left with nothing unless you wish to make a new toon. I think that having a system to alway advance your toons is a must for any MMORPG (Mass Multi-player On-line Role Playing Game).
