Fast, Accurate and Quiet (till you print)
Date of Review: Aug 17, 2008
The Bottom Line: It's fast, comparatively cheap to use, and the color is good.
I purchased the Phaser 8560/N and have been really satisfied with it. I have owned both a Lexmark C530DN and an HP 3600dn (in the past YEAR) and they were both really, really bad.
The Lexmark eats ink. I'm a graphic designer who uses color and I don't want to put $600/month into ink. It also sounds like a lawnmower when it prints and its cartridges are really expensive.
The HP would not print most of what I needed even after I upgrading the memory. When it did print it could take 15 minutes to struggle it out.
The 8560/N prints very fast and doesn't seem to care that many of my files are very large ( 75 mb). The ink is affordable (half the cost per sheet as Lexmark and HP) and simple to replace with no wasted materials or cartridges to throw away.
The color is good and better than the other laser printers that I have owned, but this is not a "proofing" machine. I use an Epson R2400 for color proofing - that's what it's for. These printers aren't for that. They are for good, pretty accurate color; fast and cheap. Not to discourage, however: It has more than enough quality and accuracy to show clients for review and approval.
The other printers I owned didn't provide enough quality & color accuracy for me to feel comfortable showing it to clients.
Possible Con: If you're not the type of person who prints everyday or at least fairly often then you should pass. Letting this printer sit idle for a couple of weeks may cause the ink to discolor or the jets to clog. FYI.
