Best running headphones ever
Date of Review: Jan 7, 2008
The Bottom Line: At $50, these headphones may seem pricey, but they are worth it for any runner out there!
I got these headphones for Christmas because I have been looking for a good pair of head phones to use with running. Previously I have tried the ipod buds which fall out too much, even with over-ear modifications. I tried a pair of skullcandy in-ear buds, but they couldn't tolerate perspiration and would always fall out when I started sweating. I also tried a couple pairs of $20 sony and philips ear-clips, which were decent but still not good enough.
The Sennheiser PMX70 has an incredibly comfortable design that sits on your head gently. I have a small width head, but these headphones still fit nicely. I can tell that they would also fit people with bigger heads.
The cord comes down from left side, which is right near my Nike ipod armband, which works out great. I never feel the cord when running and I never have to adjust the earbuds, except to wipe away sweat once or twice in an hour.
Included is a small clip which lets your anchor the cord at any point onto a piece of clothing. This means when you are running, the weight of the cord bouncing with each step will not yank the headphones out of your ears.
Sound quality is also very good. I am not an audiophile or anything, but I believe the quality is up to par with the Apple iPod buds.
My only complaint is the headphone jack has stupid flat design, which I guess is supposed to look cool. Problem is, it is uncomfortable if you have your ipod in a sports band, and also it might not plug in properly with all ipod cases.
All in all, I highly recommend these headphones to anyone who wants to listen to music during intensive physical activities such as running. $50 might be steep for some, but it's worth every penny for me.
