If you need the second battery this is a worthwhile accessory

Pros: Vertical controls, Extra power for IS lenses, AA adapter

Cons: Plastic! Expensive, cheaper to buy a few more batteries on ebay.

The Bottom Line: Buy this if you use IS lenses a lot. Physically big, some camera bags won't hold the camera with it installed.

Pros: Adds ease and comfort when shooting vertically.

Cons: Some may be discouraged by the added weight and height. I find it an advantage.

The Bottom Line: The BG-E2 is an asset to any 20 or 30D
