Film Scanners
Film scanners are specifically designed to allow the user to scan film. There are different types of film scanners depending on what kinds of film you are looking to scan, like 35mm, slides, or monochrome film.
Fingerprint
Fingerprint scanners are used to read and recognize fingerprints.
Flatbed
Flatbed scanners have a flat glass plate over the scanning device onto which you place the image to be scanned. A cover is brought down on top of the image (much like a xerox machine), and then the actual scanning elements move beneath the image, within the machine, to capture and record it.
Handheld
Handheld scanners can refer to scanners with several different uses. One type is a small, portable document scanner. Other types include UPC code readers and business card scanners.
Pass-Through
Pass-Through scanners are essentially similar to flatbed scanners. While the mechanics inside a flatbed scanner move around to read the image, the image in a pass-through scanner is pulled across the unmoving scanning mechanism.
