DS & Durga Bergamot Superior Candle is a citrus candle. Wild bergamot weeds sing the language of citrus in primavera, near the cool waters of Great Lake Superior. "I was wading upstream in my sneakers in a creek somewhere in the north. Cold water flowed from the lake downstream through the woods. I came across little island worlds in the creek, untouched, covered with plants that fed by the freshwater. The gnarled roots of the trees intertwined with the rocks and moss to create a landscape like those in the tantalizing ads for 1980s action figures (but I digress). Where the sun peeked through the canopy, wild plants grew. I found wild bergamot and bee balm, the stuff called Oswego tea that tea revelers (the old ones, not the new ones) drank in defiance of British tea. A member of the mint family, bee balm smells of distant bergamot with a touch of spearmint. You're in the cold north but you smell distant Mediterranean citrus.
