Zweigelt is one of the most planted red grapes of Austria and was born out of a crossing between St Laurent and Blaufränkisch grape varieties in 1922. The vines for this particular wine come from either side of a path leading up to the church of St Michael in the aptly named Kirchweg block, meaning church path. Soft and fruity, this wine has notes of plum, cranberry and black pepper.
