Sintered by heat into ceramic, cartridges made from the material is considered to be durable with a compressive strength of at least 2,000 megapascals (MPa) and is said to have almost the same toughness as a diamond with a hardness of up to 19 gigapascals (GPa). It is less subject to corrosion and can last longer than cartridges made from other material.Another attribute of aluminium oxide ceramics is its capability to glide which comes in handy for a ceramic disc tap. Two discs are utilized in such a tap mechanism. The upper disc moves as the tap is switched on and off while the lower disc remains static. It has a surface roughness of 0.2 micrometres (m) and a contact surface area of 50 to 80 percent. It opens at a 25-degree angle with a maximum mixing angle of 90 degrees. The highest temperature that can be reached with this cartridge is 90 (194). The flow rate allowed by the K-35B is from 20.1 liters per minute up to 26 liters per minute.Accessing and Changing a K-35B CartridgeThe single-lever cartridge sits in a manual lever tap. To repair the faucet, first, turn the tap water supplies off and lift the tap handle to the on position to prevent stressing the seals of the replacement.1: Remove the tap handle by using an Allen key to undo the grub screw. 2: Remove the shroud by hand with an anticlockwise turn.3: Remove the brass collar keeping the cartridge secure with the help of an appropriate sized spanner. The cartridge should pull out with ease. 4: Use the appropriate silicone grease on the O-rings of the new cartridge.
