Base clamp screws tight to grip the socket (the clamp is a universal 1.5" collar, and will fit most normal sockets 1.50" to 1.75". They fit great on our porcelain sockets. For our brass sockets you will have to clamp them near the knob where the socket gets fatter, or for the keyless brass sockets you can clamp directly on the socket ring. ).
