Using a vise with a deeper throat will allow you to form longer flanges in your part. If tightening the vise by hand is difficult, use a pipe or wrench around the handle to apply more force. Sticking a small magnetic angle level on your part while bending can help you get consistent angles outside of 90 degrees.
