Taylor Thiosulfate N/10 Reagent #7 is the first reagent in a series of three used to determine Total Alkalinity. Total Alkalinity is the measure of the acid-neutralizing capacity of water which indicates its buffering ability, i.e., resistance to changes in pH. Generally, the higher the total alkalinity, the greater the resistance to pH change. Storing reagents at a consistent temperature in the range of 36°-85° F (2°-29° C); extreme temperature fluctuation, say from a refrigerator to a hot car trunk, causes reagents to deteriorate.
