Taylor pH Indicator Solution #4 is used to measure the acidity/basicity of an aqueous solution. The pH scale runs from 0 to 14 with 7 being the neutral midpoint. A pH of less than 7 is on the acid side of the scale; a pH greater than 7 is on the basic (alkaline) side of the scale. Storing reagents at a consistent temperature in the range of 36°-85° F (2°-29° C); extreme temperature fluctuation, say from a refrigerator to a hot car trunk, causes reagents to deteriorate.
