An excellent example of the two-tone Explorer I, with some resting marks on the caseback. The Rolex Explorer's name originated from the watches that were given to various mountaineering teams, including the one that would conquer the summit of Mount Everest. While originally designed for ease of use by mountaineers in the blinding snow, the Rolex Explorer I has become one of Rolex's most versatile models. Unlike the distinctive bezels on the Submariner or Daytona, the Explorer I has no clear defining characteristic apart from the 3-6-9 dial. This has made it popular amongst collectors and customers who enjoy the trademark Rolex quality, but prefer a less recognisable watch.
