For most of its history, Rolex was best known for one watch - the Day-Date. Launched in 1956, it was conceived as a flagship for the collection. It was (and is still to this day) only sold in precious metal - whether that be gold or platinum - and gave users a new way of telling the time and date. The design is more or less unchanged since its release, and has aged gracefully with a few updates over the years. More significant than the watch itself is the storied history behind the model. It's the watch of choice for people in power - notable wearers include every president ranging from John F. Kennedy all the way to Ronald Reagan, as well as sportspeople like Michael Jordan and Jack Nicklaus.
