The Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 might appear as a simply up-gunned Submariner Date with its thicker case, and in many ways it is. However, there are a few subtler differences which make it an entirely different watch. Firstly, Rolex's iconic cyclops magnified date is gone - technology at the time meant there was no way of safely keeping it attached under the pressures the 16600 was expected to maintain. Secondly, it features a substantially thicker crystal to give it increased water resistance. All in all, it's an incredibly solid watch when compared to its contemporaries, and has more than stood up to the test of time.
