But if yout use sandpaper on a flat surface this would work and give very nice results. the top clamp does hold chisels and plane blades securely. I did not make this tool craftsman did! It is made to run on a flat surface with a flat stone, very important----"everything must be perfectly flat", in order for this to work properly.
