if this seal has failed your steering box oil will drip out of the bottom of the box over time leaving it with no lubrication and causing the worm and peg to wear resulting in play and notchy steering. the seal measures 37mm outer diameter, 27mm internal diameter and 7mm thick the steering box coupling and coupling earth strap are also available from the Wolfsburg Restos ebay shop.
