The 40mm (1 1/2") plastic D ring is sized to fit 38mm webbing and narrow fabrics. A D ring is often used on bags as an anchor point to attach straps. Two D rings can be fitted on one end of a piece of webbing ot make a belt. Finally a D ring can be sewn onto the end of a webbing piece to make a grab point for ease of use.
