This is a large earthenware jug probably made at the Fremington Pottery near Barnstaple in North Devon in the mid-19th century. Fremington was founded a 1820 by the potter George Frimley and produced earthenware pots and utensils from north Devon's distinctive red clay well into the 20th century.
