The engraving is broken down into a single Map with a decorative cartouche illustrating allegorical figures and architectural elements, probably in reference to the historical civilizations of the mapped region. In 1812, the area covered by the Map was a significant part of the Ottoman Empire. The region was the scene of crucial cultural and commercial exchanges and had been influenced by various civilizations over time. The borders reflect Ottoman admin.
