The "Tilawa" was a British India Steam Navigation Company ship sunk by a Japanese submarine in 1942 during World War II. It was carrying a large amount of silver bullion destined for the South African Mint. The wreck is sometimes referred to as the "Indian Titanic" due to the large loss of life and the valuable cargo. The silver was eventually salvaged and has been used to produce commemorative coins and rounds, including some featuring the image of Paul Kruger, a former president of South Africa. Limited mintage on these!! Some slight milking on some of the coins.
