This stand has hardly been used in good condition and cost £34.50 new from Homebase. It’s collapsible and last Christmas it held a six foot Douglas Fir tree. There is a spike in the middle of the base for extra solidity. so you can drill a 3cm hole in the base of your fir and the centre of the trunk slots into it. It’s recommended that you buy your tree early, like at the end of November. Then cut two inches off the bottom, which is dead, and keep it outside in the cold for a week to ten days. Then place it inside using the base and fill with water a few times and I guarantee by Twelfth Night it will still be as good as it was. Some people are successful in planting them out!
