Alf Mossman Landon was the governor of Kansas who was made the Republican nominee for the 1936 presidential election. Landon and his VP running mate newspaper man Frank Knox would go on to lose to Franklin Roosevelt and “Cactus Jack” Garner in a massive landslide winning only 8 electoral votes to FDR’s 523.
