This piece was hand engraved by Tockstein, one of the foremost engravers of the period who influenced C20th glass design more than anyone of the era. Tockstein was born in 1914 and after graduating from the local glass school (1929-1932), enroled in the Prague University of Applied Arts under Joseph Drahonovskeho (1934-35).
