Simply lift the strainer out of the sink and over to the bin to empty the waste. The rubber ring on the bottom of your sink strainer creates a seal around the plug hole when it is pressed down. DOUBLES AS A PLUG -- Press the strainer down to form a seal between the rubber ring and sink hole so you can fill your sink like you would with a normal plug.
