Hardcover book club edition of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith (Harper & Brothers, 1943). An early printing (not numbered) of this classic work of literature. Dated sometime between 1943 and 1949 as the book was printed with particular paper used to preserve materials for the WWII efforts. Jacket protected in new archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creases and small tears. Boards straight and clean but with corners bumped. A few instances of split binding though no pages are missing. Previous owner’s inscription on front endpaper, otherwise pages are unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition. Packaged with care and shipped via USPS Media Mail
