Model Shipways MS2270 HARRIET STEAM PADDLE CUTTER 1857 Scale 1:96 Assembly Kit

Built in New York for the US Revenue Service in 1857, but later captured by the Confederation in 1883, it was used as a naval block ship to support the South merchant service. Harriet Lane was fueled by a combination of steam and sailing. It was 55 meters long, with a width of 9 meters, and transported a 14 kg Parrott rifle, plus three dahlgren cannons with a 23 cm smooth rod. His crew of 95 men was entirely armed with light weapons. His project clearly illustrates the transition from steam sailing, since the steam engines were not entirely reliable and the power was not yet enough to allow the elimination of the sail. The naval modeling kit in wood and metal of the Harriet Lane of Model Expo has a construction with laser -cut axes on bulkheads, linden for the bridge and cabins, flag -knif.
