This is a genuine hat worn by British Railway Southern Guards c. 1960. The writing inside the hat has largely worn off, but the date appears to be 1963 and the size 6 3/4. At the front of the hat are two badges - the green Guard badge of Southern Rail and the Lion and Wheel pin of British Rail. The hat is in brilliant vintage condition. All of the vents are intact and the structure excellent. There is some slight wear to the felt on the top of the cap, as well as wear to the leather around the inside of the hat. There is some scratching and marking to the cap piece, as well as 1cm of loose stitching on the under side.
