The camera is capable of shooting full frame 35mm or panoramic at a flip of a switch, at anytime whilst in use. The camera works fine apart from the display has faded away. The camera will default to automatic when you install a battery so the flash will fire in low light situations. All the functions (self timer, flash modes) work just not visible on display.
