Vintage surveyors Gunters chain. Rare to find a 100ft chain, usually they’re 66ft. It features brass handles at each end with swivel joints to prevent twisting and distinctive brass tags or tallies at every tenth link to mark distances. Gunter's chain and its associated unit of a "chain" became statutory measures in England and were widely used for linear land measurement for nearly 300 years. In original shed find found condition, still wrapped together with wire.
