This 9ct gold has the main band in yellow gold and the gemstone setting in white gold to complement the sapphire. The central oval sapphire (5 X 4 mm) is surrounded by a halo of 8 small diamonds (1 mm). The sapphire is surrounded by 8 radiating bars of white gold which separate the diamonds and emphasise the halo radiance. The ring is fully hallmarked with the maker's mark of JM and the Birmingham assay office confirmation of 0.375 gold purity and a date of 1974. The internal diameter of the ring is 17 mm (size N) and the weight is a substantial 2.9 grams, while the main setting is 11 X 9 mm. There are small scratches on the ring, consistent with its age but the ring has been well cared for an is in very good condition.
