Having completed many years of research on the subject at the National History Museum of Latvia, the Liepaja Museum, and the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia, author M. Grasmane has chosen 178 pairs of mittens created from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century which best characterize the mitten-knitting traditions of the various regions of Latvia.
