Here is an antique door knob from a local estate. This is a large, heavy knob. This is an octagonal pattern knob and octagonal pattern backplate. It is cast iron. It has a square threaded shaft. This is for fixed, push/pull use (as opposed to a regular twist knob). This would likely be used with a spring or roller catch for a large pantry, closet or screen door. It appears to have a thin nickel plating type silver finish. This is 5 1/2" long including the shaft. The shaft is 2 1/4" long from the back of the backplate to the end. The knob is 2 3/4" across. This weighs over 1 lb 4 oz. I did not find any markings on this. Get this neat handle!.
