This is a hand carved Staunton chess set made of boxwood dating to the mid 20th century, possibly by the French company of Lardy; it comes in an intriguing much older 19th century slide top box with a very early Staunton label on the lid, and a c1900 blue and white paper label to the base which is unreadable. Measuring 57mm tall for the kings and 25mm for the pawns all the pieces are in very good condition with only very minor wear - they are unweighted and have no felt to the bases. The box is also good with wear to the corners and edges, and the top label is worn but readable. UK only postage is free, and international postage uses Ebay's Global Shipping Programme.
