British fifty pence (50p) coin commemorating the Modern Pentathlon event of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The coin was part of a series of 29 different commemorative 50p coins issued by the Royal Mint for the Olympics. The reverse design, by Daniel Brittain, depicts five figures representing the five sports of the modern pentathlon: fencing, swimming, riding, shooting, and running. The obverse side features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. Approximately 1,689,500 of these specific coins entered general circulation, making it a relatively common collectible.
