Since his time in John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra (1971-1973), drummer Billy Cobham has been one of the great heroes of electric fusion jazz. "Total Eclipse" was his third leader album within a few months, and once again he composed all the tracks himself. The opening 'suite' called "Solarization" (11 minutes long) shows a broad and quite sophisticated stylistic Spektrum . Cobham's music jumps from high-energy jazz rock with cranked-up guitars and thunderous drum salvos to idiosyncratic piano or brass improvisations. Smooth electric Latin grooves and gripping funk numbers are also included. Our founding year 1998 - long after vinyl declared dead and long before vinyl was celebrated as a cool thing again - proves that we are real Vinylnerds. We only started as a small panel manufact.
