Carnoustie – One of the toughest Open Championship venues. 3. Turnberry – Famous for its scenic seaside holes and the 1977 “Duel in the Sun” between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus. 4. Gleneagles – Host of the 2014 Ryder Cup and several major events; it’s an inland resort with multiple courses, including the King’s and Queen’s.
