This map was published as #41 in the Report of the Superintendent of the Coast Survey showing the progress made in the survey for the year 1854, then under the supervision of A. D. Bache. The map sheet shows triangulation done in several locations, from San Pablo Bay and San Francisco to the Bay of Monterey.
