This is a commemorative fifty pence coin issued in 2013 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of the renowned British composer, Benjamin Britten (1913-1976). Reverse Design (Tails): Designed by Tom Phillips CBE RA, the coin features the name "BENJAMIN BRITTEN" framed on a double stave. It includes the inscriptions: "BLOW BUGLE BLOW," "COMPOSER · BORN 1913," and "SET THE WILD ECHOES FLYING," which are quotes from his work. Obverse Design (Heads): Features the 4th portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
