In the mid-1950s, Ercolani created the Butterfly chair, known as the ‘401 Preformed Chair,’ blending molded elm plywood with a traditional Windsor-style base and steam-bent back. Though initially popular, the chair was discontinued by the 1980s but was revived in 2002 thanks to Margaret Howell.
