A lovely vintage Japanese kokeshi doll, turned wood with hand-painted facial features and a warm aged patina. This example is particularly interesting as it features handwritten Japanese calligraphy on the body (please see close-up photos). Likely a maker’s inscription or dedication/date. Measurements • Height: 25cm • Diameter (widest): approx. 4cm Condition Good vintage condition with expected age-related wear/marks and patina. Please note: the underside has a central hole (shown clearly in photos) – appears to be part of the original construction / mounting rather than a fresh break, but please satisfy yourself from the pictures.
